Special Announcements

WORLDS OF FUN!!  On Saturday, July 18th, from 9:30 a.m. to midnight, Worlds of Fun is hosting an event called “Heartfest”, which includes a concert by Third Day.  Calvin and Traci Weibling are planning to go, and would like to invite the youth group and any adults who would like to join them to come along!  If we have a group of 15 or more, we can get the group rate of $34.99.  Please call the church office (380-2422) by June 28 if you would like to go.

ATTENTION ALL THOSE IN THE COLLEGIATE BIBLE STUDY!  The study for next Monday, June 22, will be at Kayli Pozniak’s house.  Just meet at the Gilberts’ at 6 p.m. and everyone will carpool to Kayli’s place.

TEEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  Julie Hicks is looking for some teens to volunteer in the Alliance office for the next month or so helping put some information into excel spreadsheet format.  She could use help for a few hours on either Wednesdays, Fridays, or Saturdays.  This work can be counted toward community service hours for the A+ scholarship program.  If you are interested, please call the church office at 380-2422.

HAITI NEEDS:  We recently received word from a doctor at Mission of Hope that there are some items they could use in their clinic in Haiti.  The list included:  small baggies; HP printer ink 60; Deep Cold or other muscle creams; Visine type eye drops; and infant formula.  If you have been wanting to participate in the mission trip in some way, here is something very tangible you could do that could touch someone’s life hundreds of miles away.   If you would like to help, please be sure you have your items here by Sunday, June 21st

AN EVENING OF MUSIC, COMEDY AND MAGIC:  On Saturday, July 11, at 7 p.m. at Cornerstone, we will be treated to an evening of entertainment by Larry DeLawder.  He is known for his hilarious impersonation of Barney Fife from the Andy Griffith show, but he is also a very talented musician, singer, and song writer.  Not only that, but our own Nick Pierce will be there to amaze us with his magical talents!  And all of this will be preceded by an ice cream social at 5 p.m.  This is a great event to invite family and friends to attend.  There is no admission fee, but a love offering will be taken.

Word for the Week

“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”

Psalm 42:1,2

“What were we made for?

To know God.

What aim should we set ourselves in life?

To know God.

What is the ‘eternal life’ that Jesus gives?

Knowledge of God. . .

What is the best thing in life, bringing more joy, delight,

and contentment, than anything else?

Knowledge of God. . .

Once you become aware that the main business that you are here for is to know God, most of life’s problems fall into place of their own accord.”

J. I. Packard in Knowing God
