Cornerstone E-News

A publication of Cornerstone Community Church

Our Mission:

“To multiply Christ-followers who love God, love others and serve both.”

Wednesday, July 1

Special Announcements

BOOKKEEPER OPENING:  Jeannine Eddins has decided to make Aaron’s house her full-time focus, so we are now taking applications for the bookkeeper position for the church.  This position is for 7 hours a week at $12.75 per hour, and a good knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting is required.  If you are interested, you can pick up an application and a copy of the job description in the church office.

ATTENTION ALL MEN:  There will be no men’s breakfast in July or August, however, there is another great opportunity to fellowship with the men in the body that you won’t want to miss.  On July 31 – August 1, a group of guys from Cornerstone will be journeying to Boulder, Colorado, for the 20th anniversary Promise Keepers Conference, which will be taking place at Folsom Field where the very first Promise Keepers event was held.  If you are interested in going, there is a sign-up sheet on the west information table in the Commons. If you have questions, call the church office at 380-2422.

UPCOMING SPEAKERS:   For the next few weeks, Pastor Tom will be gone attending the EFCA National Leadership Conference and then on vacation with his family.   In his absence, we will be privileged to hear messages from several men in our body:  June 28 – Mark Gassman; July 5 – Joe Chenoweth; and July 12 – Mark Lockard.

AN EVENING OF MUSIC, COMEDY AND MAGIC:  On Saturday, July 11, at 7 p.m. at Cornerstone, we will be treated to an evening of entertainment by Larry DeLawder.  He is known for his hilarious impersonation of Barney Fife from the Andy Griffith show, but he is also a very talented musician, singer, and song writer.  Not only that, but our own Nick Pierce will be there to amaze us with his magical talents!  And all of this will be preceded by an ice cream social at 6 p.m.   This is a great event to invite family and friends to attend.  There is no admission fee, but a love offering will be taken.  Note:  There is a sign-up sheet in the commons for volunteers to bring ice cream or toppings for the ice cream social.  Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

Word for the Week

“Those who trust in the Lord are as Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken, but endures forever.  As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people,

both now and forevermore.”

Psalm 125:1,2

Quotes to Ponder

“The good news of the gospel is not that God will provide a way to make life easier.  The good news of the gospel, for this life, is that He will make our lives better.  We will be empowered to draw close to God and to love others well, and to do both for one central purpose, to glorify God, to make Him look good to any who watch us live.”

                                                            Larry Crabb, Shattered Dreams
