Special Announcements

 

 

THANKSGIVING DINNER:  This Sunday is our Thanksgiving Dinner right after the morning worship service.   Please bring two side dishes to go with the turkey and rolls that will be provided. 

 

CORNERSTONE CONNECT:

If you are a newcomer to Cornerstone, we invite you to take a closer look at our church by attending “Cornerstone Connect” this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. (during the Bible class time.)  This informal discussion is a chance for you to learn more about Cornerstone’s vision and values, and also about the opportunities available to you here at the church.   The group will meet in Pastor Tom’s office, and a light breakfast will be provided. Hope to see you there!

 

CELEBRATE! 

This week’s topic is the spiritual practice of Fasting/SolitudeAs maturing followers of Christ, we periodically fast or get alone with God to keep ourselves spiritually sharp and to hear His Holy Spirit more clearly.  This spiritual practice is typically experienced to discipline our bodies so we can control them.  It allows us to discipline our minds or make us more sensitive to hear God. Have you had an experience with this practice that has allowed you to see or experience God in a

 

HIGH SCHOOL SKATING:

This Sunday night, the High School youth group will be going skating at Crown Center.  Please meet at the church at 4 p.m., and bring $9 to pay for skating and also some money for food.  Return time to the church will be about 9 p.m.

 

HANGING OF THE GREENS:

Come on up to the church on Saturday, November 28, for our annual Hanging of the Greens, when we decorate the church for the Christmas Season!   We will get started with our decorating at 10:00 a.m., and will break to enjoy some delicious homemade soup together at noon. 

 

RECEPTION FOR NICK BISHOP AND SAMANTHA PAYNE:

Nick Bishop and Samantha Payne are getting married this Saturday in a private ceremony in Princeton, MO.   They would like to invite the Cornerstone family to a reception celebrating their marriage on Saturday, December 5 from 1-3 p.m. at the Community Center.  They request that you R.S.V.P. to 660-679-0133 by November 30th

 

CONCERT SUPPORTING BRIDGE OF HOPE:  This Friday, November 20, the William Baker Festival Singers and Keystone, a gospel quartet, are giving a concert to raise money for Bridge of Hope.  The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at Broadway United Methodist Church (74th and Wornall) in Kansas City.  Admission to the concert is free, but they will be taking an offering, all of which will go to Bridge of Hope. 

 

LADIES, IT’S BUNCO TIME!

This Friday is the Bunco Party at Juanita Blackwell’s home.  The party starts at 7:00 p.m.   There are flyers on the desk in the church office with all the details and with directions to Juanita’s house.   All women are welcome, and this is a great place to bring a friend or recent visitor to the church.  If you are planning to come, contact the church office at 380-2422.

Angel Food Distribution Date: NOTE NEW TIME:  Saturday, November 21st from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.

 

FOOD FOR THOUGHT BACKPACK PROGRAM: The Food for Thought Backpack program is a free nutritional program for children in the Harrisonville schools.  Children are sent home on Fridays with a backpack filled with 2 days of healthy food.  The goal is “No child goes hungry in Harrisonville.”  Food is donated by community members and local businesses or is purchased with donations to the program.   If you would like to make a financial donation to this program, you can make checks payable to the Harrisonville Public School Foundation, and send it to P.O. Box 1000, Harrisonville, MO  64701.  (Phone number 380-2727.)  If you would like to donate food items, you may drop them off at the Early Childhood Center, Attn:  Jennifer Beavers, 500 Polar Lane in Harrisonville.  Her number is 380-4421, ext. 2822.
