Special Announcements
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE: There will be a Christmas Eve service from 6-7 p.m. here at the church. Bring your whole family for this special time to celebrate our Savior’s birth.
CELEBRATE: This week’s topic for celebration is the spiritual practice of Worship. As maturing followers of Christ, we regularly worship God to connect with Him and honor Him. How has the corporate or private worship of God impacted your relationship with Him?
MIDDLE SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PARTY: The Middle School Youth Group will be having a Christmas Party at the Schneebergers’ home on December 20th at 6 p.m. Please bring a white elephant gift and a snack to share.
LADIES’ RETREAT! Ladies, it’s our turn to get away! Put February 26th – 27th on your calendars for the Cornerstone Ladies’ Retreat, and be watching for more details after the holidays.
THANK YOU FROM THE FROSTS: Karen and Donny Frost would like to thank their brothers and sisters in the church body for all they did for them while Karen was in the hospital. Karen is doing much better, and attributes her recovery to all of your faithful prayers. Your loving concern was a blessing to them, and they thank God for you.
CHRISTMAS CAROLING: This Sunday, December 13th, we will be having a family Christmas Caroling Party. We will meet at Cornerstone at 6 p.m. and walk to the neighborhood across the street to sing and hand out candy canes. Then we’ll come back to the church for hot chocolate and desserts. Bring your whole family and a Christmas treat to share.
BULLETIN GREETERS: Cornerstone Church is in need of bulletin greeters. This is an uncomplicated responsibility and a great way of meeting people in the church. Bulletin greeters typically serve once every 2 months. Families are more than welcome. Anyone interested in serving as a bulletin greeter should contact Jay Hicks at 258-4331 or jhicks53@msn.com.
CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER NEEDED: We are in need of a teacher for the third – fifth grade Sunday school class. If you are interested in hearing more about what this would involve, please call the church office at 380-2422.
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: This Sunday, December 13th, during the morning worship service, there will be a Christmas program put on by the children of the church. Invite your friends and family for this special holiday event!
LET’S KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE! At Cornerstone, it is very important to us that our children are safe at all times. To be sure this is the case, there are areas of the church where we ask that children not be allowed to go. These are the sound booth, the stage, and the storage and supply closets. There are also ponds on the west side of our property that are a danger to children. We all know that kids can be quick to run off, so if you see a younger member of our body in any of these areas, please take a moment to kindly help them to find their parents. We would also ask that there be no children in the church office without a parent accompanying them. Let’s all work together to keep our children safe!

Word for the Week
“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means “God with us.”
Matthew 1:23
Quotes to Ponder
“In one sense, Adam and Eve were right to fear facing God. The consequences of their choices were painful. But even God’s seemingly harshest judgment – banishment from the Garden and the Tree of Life – was rooted in love. If the first humans had accessed eternal life in Eden, they would have remained in their brokenness forever. God chose another way – a death and resurrection way that would cost him much – because he was and is and always will be with us and for us. Christmas clarifies this resoundingly. That’s why every time the angels announced Christ’s birth, they said, “Do not be afraid.” Yes, we should fear sin’s consequences. But we need not fear the perfect love of a God willing to come and shiver in our skin to save us.”
