Our Mission:

“To multiply Christ-followers who love God, love others and serve both.”

March 10, 2010

Special Announcements

COMMUNION:  This Sunday during the worship service, we will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper.  Afterwards, the deacons will be at the doors of the worship center to receive a love offering for those in our body who have financial needs.

ATTENTION HS YOUTH:  The High School youth group will meet this Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the new Harrisonville coffee house, Coffee Cats, to enjoy the performance of local Christian musician, Justin Schrock.  They will then go back to the church for their youth time.

SMALL GROUP LEADERS:  There will be a small group leaders’ meeting here at the church on Wednesday, March 17th, at 7:00 p.m.

BUNCO PARTY TIME!  This Friday, March 19th, at 7 p.m. is another chance to head out to Juanita Blackwell’s home for an evening of Bunco!  If you would like to come, please R.S.V.P. to Juanita at at 779-4299 or blackwellj@harrisonville.k12.mo.us.  If you have a card table you could bring, it would help her if you could let her know that as well.  This is a great chance to relax and get to know women in the church, so come out and join the fun!

SPRING CLEAN-UP AND MAINTENANCE DAY: Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 20, at 8:30 a.m., as we gather to give the church a sprucing up.  Bring work gloves and tools, or just show up and we will put you to work!  If anyone sees a need for repairs, let one of the deacons know and we will add it to our list.

TIME CHANGE ON NICK PIERCE LIVE:   On Saturday, March 27th here at Cornerstone, Nick Pierce will be bringing us an evening filled with illusion and sleight of hand mixed with timely bits of Biblical truth.  This is a perfect event to invite your family and friends to attend.  Please note:  The start time for the show has been changed.  The show will be starting at 6:30 p.m., with brownie sundaes to be served afterwards, rather than starting the show at 6:45 with refreshments preceding as was previously announced.  If you are planning to attend, it would be helpful if you would R.S.V.P. by replying to this email with the number in your group.  Thank you!

THANK YOU!  Doris Friesen sends this thank you:  The turn out for the food pantry last Friday was the best!  Thank you Joe Chenoweth, Janelle Vignery, Belva McCoy, Vickie Reeves, Ron Richardson, Debra Sunde, and Thomas, Misty, Ellie, and Wyatt Ohnemus.

Good job!!

     Word for the Week

[Moses] said to them, “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”

Deuteronomy 32:46,47

Thoughts to Ponder

Voltaire boasted that his work would make the Bible extinct in a hundred years.  Recently his ninety-two volumes sold for two dollars.

Sad but true

My daughter and I went through the McDonald’s take-out window and I gave the clerk at $5 bill… Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter.  She said, “You gave me too much money.”  I said, “Yes, I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar bill back.”  She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request.  I did so, and he handed me back the quarter and said, “We’re sorry, but we cannot do that kind of thing.”  The clerk then proceeded to give me back $1.75 in change.
