ANSWERED PRAYER!   We have been praying for a home for Jeff and Sabrina Brown, and God has answered our prayers!  They moved into an apartment on Monday, and now they can use our help in setting up their new household.   Some specific things that Sabrina mentioned they need are a couch and chair, a kitchen table and chairs, dishes, pots and pans, sheets, towels, curtains, and pictures for the walls.  Please call Sabrina at 417-770-6596 if you would like to donate any of these items or to find out what other needs they might have.  Thank you for your help in giving this family a fresh start.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER:   Thursday, May 6th, is the National Day of Prayer for our country.   On Sunday, there will be a table in the Commons with a sheet blocked off in 15-minute increments where you can sign up to pray for a segment of that day. There are also a number of community-wide events which are listed below:

National Day of Prayer

Thursday, May 6th

Schedule of Events

Prayer Vigil – 3:15am to 5:59pm – First Baptist Church

Lets come together and create a constant line of communication from Harrisonville Missouri directly to the Lord God Almighty!  Sign up at your local church or by calling 380-3733.

Prayer Walk – 7:00am – First Baptist Church

Two walks will be offered this year.  Choose either:

a leisurely 30-minute walk around the square of Harrisonville

a moderate paced 60 minute-walk expanding past the Harrisonville square

Parents Prayer Time – 1:00pm to 3:00pm – First Baptist Church

Do you have small children at home?  Do you feel like you never get a chance to just sit and talk with God?  Well this is your chance.  Our nursery will be open to provide FREE child care while you sit in our quiet, peaceful sanctuary.  Take this opportunity to commune with the Father who loves you so much.  Whether your time is filled with tears, laughter, praise, or even a wrestling match, you’ll enjoy the company – and so will Immanuel.

Prayer Meeting – 7:00pm – First Baptist Church

We will conclude our day by Praising and Worshiping The Lord through Prayer.  He hears us when we call to Him.  Come and spent time praying and praising Him for all the blessing He pours out.

WALK FOR LIFE:   Saturday, May 22nd is the annual Walk for Life to support the Life Choice Center for Women.   A number of the middle school girls are participating in the walk, so if you would like to make a pledge to support the Life Choice Center, you may contact one of them, or talk with Kelly Schneeberger or Suzanne Barnett and they can help direct you to one of the girls.

BABY DEDICATION:   We will be having a baby dedication during the worship service on Mother’s Day (May 9th).  If you are interested in having your baby dedicated, please contact the church office at 380-2422.

ATTENTION ALL MEN!   On May 14-15th, there will be a Men’s Campout at Pomme de Terre Lake. For more information, contact Stan Belk at 380-7423 or houseofbelk@embarqmail.com.

Word for the Week

“Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.  But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the

Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

John 20:30-31

                       Quotes to Ponder

“I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man.  Between him and every other person in the world there is no comparison.  Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires.  But upon what did we rest the creations of our genius?  Upon force.  Jesus Christ founded his empire upon love.  And at this hour millions of men

would die for him.”                                                                                                                         Napoleon Bonaparte

Interesting Facts

“Stewardesses” is the longest word in the English language that is typed

only on the left hand.

And “lollipop” is the longest typed with your right hand.
