Announcements

THANK YOU:  Doris Friesen wants to say a big THANK YOU to all those who helped out at the Food Pantry last Friday.  The great response was a blessing and encouragement to those who work at the Pantry and to those who receive from it.  Thank you! 

YOUTH NEWS:

PRAYER MEETING FOR PASTOR SEARCH:  On Wednesday evening, April 18^th, at 7:00 p.m., we will be having a time to pray together for our pastor, our church body, and the process we are in as God leads us together.  Everyone in the church family is invited. 

FAMILY POTLUCK AND BUSINESS MEETING:  We will be having a family potluck on Sunday, April 22^nd after the worship service.  Pork ribs and fried chicken will be provided.  Please bring two of the following side dishes to share:  vegetable, salad, and/or dessert. 

Following the potluck on April 22^nd will be our Annual Business Meeting.  Below is the slate of nominees that the Connection Team is presenting for a vote at the meeting:

MEGA DAY!  Saturday, April 28^th is Mega Day at Bridge of Hope Church in Kansas City, Kansas. This is a chance to practically show the love of Jesus to the Bridge of Hope Community by doing such things as painting, cleaning, minor home repairs, yard work, or oil changes.  If you are interested in helping, contact Kevin Barnett at 380-7181. 

WEDDING SHOWER:  Susan Lockard and Teresa Haffner are hosting a wedding shower/brunch for Kandyce Daniels, fiancé of Luke Gassman, on Saturday, April 28^th, at 11:00 a.m. at Susan’s home (1418 Norfolk, Harrisonville).  All the ladies of the church are invited.  Please RSVP to Susan at 816-896-1226 or susanlockard@embarqmail.com.  Luke and Kandyce will be married in Iowa on May 12^th. 

VBS MEETING:  Summer is coming soon!  On Sunday, May 6^th, immediately after the service, there will be a meeting about this year’s VBS, which is scheduled for June 25^th-29^th.     Contact Kari Bliss (blissk@harrisonville.k12.mo.us) for more information.

Odds and Ends

After the Fellowship Dinner last Wednesday, there were several requests for Sharon Parker’s pasta salad recipe, so here it is!

Sharon’s Mostaccioli Salad

1# mostaccioli noodles

1 1/2 cups vinegar

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 Tbsp. onion flakes

1 tsp. salt

1 1/2 tsp pepper

1 tsp. Accent

2 tsp. prepared mustard

1 tsp. garlic powder

1 Tbsp. parsley (I usually use 3 Tbsp.)

2 cucumbers thinly sliced (I use 4 or 6 depending on size)

1 onion chopped fine

1 small green pepper chopped fine

1 1/2 cups oil

Mix everything together and pour over cooked noodles and stir.  Refrigerate for several hours before serving.  I usually make the night before I plan to use it.
