YARD HELP NEEDED: The deacons would like to ask any men who are be available on Saturday to come out to Susan Strong’s home any time after 9:00 a.m. to help her with some yard work. You may feel free to stop by for any amount of time you have available. Please bring chain saws and pruning tools. Susan lives at 24611 E. 267^th Street in Harrisonville. If you have questions, you may contact Stan Belk at 797-3005.

WALK FOR LIFE: The Annual Walk for Life to raise funds for the Life Choice Center of Harrisonville will be this Saturday, May 19^th, with registration beginning at 8:30 and the walk starting at 9:00 a.m. This year there are two locations: Harrisonville City Park or Stone Gate Elementary in Raymore. You can participate either by walking or sponsoring someone else who walks. For more information, contact Teresa Haffner at haffspeedy@kcweb.net, or Suzanne Barnett at ksbarnett@embarqmail.com.

YOUTH NEWS: The youth will not be meeting this Sunday due to the Harrisonville High School graduation or on May 27^th due to Memorial Day. The next youth meetings will be Sunday evening, June 3^rd, when both Middle School and High School groups will meet at their regular times.

WEEKLY PRAYER REQUESTS: Would you like to receive weekly prayer requests for our church family via email? If so, just reply to this e-news and let us know.

BRING IN YOUR PIZZA RECEIPTS! Don’t throw away your Pizza Hut and Mazzios receipts! Bring them in and put them in the jar next to the coffee maker in the kitchen. We can redeem them for free pizzas for our church events.

GARAGE SALE AT CRYSTAL MANOR: Crystal Manor Residential Care Center in Adrian is having a Garage and Bake Sale on Saturday, June 2^nd to raise money to help provide for the personal needs of the residents. Belva McCoy, a member of our church who is a resident at Crystal Manor, called today to ask if anyone in our church family would like to donate items for either the garage sale or the bake sale, and to invite us to come down and shop on the day of the sale. MOTHER’S DAY BREAKFAST THIS SUNDAY: All of the women of Cornerstone are invited to a breakfast prepared by some of our illustrious male chefs this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. There will no Bible classes that day so that the entire church family can enjoy the meal and honor the women of our church.

YOUTH NEWS: There will be no Youth meetings on May 13^th due to Mother’s Day, on May 20^th due to the Harrisonville High School graduation, or May 27^th due to Memorial Day. The next youth meetings will be Sunday evening, June 3^rd, when both Middle School and High School groups will meet.

Announcements

FIRST WEDNESDAY DINNER: Tonight at 6 p.m., is our First Wednesday Fellowship Dinner in the Commons. This is a time to enjoy conversation with the church family and celebrate what God has been doing in people’s lives. Ministry teams will meet afterwards as needed. No need to bring food, but there will be a donation basket available if you would like to contribute toward the cost of the meal. Everyone is welcome!

TACO DINNER: There will be a Taco Dinner this Sunday, May 6^th following the worship service to raise funds for the youth who are heading to the Challenge conference this July. Please stay and enjoy some good food and fellowship and help send our youth to New Orleans!

VBS MEETING: Summer is coming soon! This Sunday, May 6^th, immediately after the service, there will be a meeting about this year’s VBS, which is scheduled for June 25^th-29^th. Contact Kari Bliss (blissk@harrisonville.k12.mo.us) for more information.

PRAYER MEETING FOR PASTOR SEARCH: Tonight from 7:00-8:00 p.m., we will be having a time to pray together for our pastor, our church body, and the process we are in as God leads us together. We invite and would encourage everyone who considers Cornerstone their church home to join us for this time of prayer.

“FALLEN NOT FORGOTTEN”: This Saturday at 5:00 p.m. there will be a remembrance service in honor of the two local officers and one civilian who were killed during a shooting rampage 40 years ago on Harrisonville’s square. The service will be in Marler-Wirt-Allen Park at the corner of Mechanic and Independence Streets. This will be the first time a memorial has been held, and several of their out-of-state family members will be in attendance. In the event of rain, it will be held at First Christian Church. It is recommended that you bring lawn chairs. Call Pastor David Noble at 678-2750 for more information.

This is a chance to practically show the love of Jesus to the Bridge of Hope Community by doing such things as painting, cleaning, minor home repairs, yard work, or oil changes. LET’S CELEBRATE TOGETHER!

Susan Lockard and Teresa Haffner are hosting a wedding shower/brunch for Kandyce Daniels, fiancé of Luke Gassman, on Saturday, April 28^th, at 11:00 a.m. at Susan’s home (1418 Norfolk, Harrisonville). On Sunday, April 29^th, directly after the worship service, come to the Fireside Room and get to know Kennedy Peterman, daughter of Isabella Peterman. She will be accompanied by her Grandmother Lori and Aunt Joelle. Kennedy needs diapers sizes 2 and 3’s, refill bags for the diaper genie, wipes, clothes size 10 months and up, as well as any baby toys that look fun. Come by and say hello!

Odds and Ends

After the Fellowship Dinner last Wednesday, there were several requests for Sharon Parker’s pasta salad recipe, so here it is!

Sharon’s Mostaccioli Salad

1# mostaccioli noodles

1 1/2 cups vinegar

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 Tbsp. onion flakes

1 tsp. salt

1 1/2 tsp pepper

1 tsp. Accent

2 tsp. prepared mustard

1 tsp. garlic powder

1 Tbsp. parsley (I usually use 3 Tbsp.)

2 cucumbers thinly sliced (I use 4 or 6 depending on size)

1 onion chopped fine

1 small green pepper chopped fine

1 1/2 cups oil

Mix everything together and pour over cooked noodles and stir. Refrigerate for several hours before serving. I usually make the night before I plan to use it.
