Compassion Ministries
Compassion Ministries at Cornerstone Church is dedicated to serving the needs of our local community by partnering with several organizations to make a tangible difference.
Through our collaboration with non-profits like the Akron/Canton Food Bank, Eagle Ministries Food Giveaway, and the Kenmore Free Store, we help to provide essential groceries, clothing, and household items to families in need.
Our initiatives like The Peanut Butter & Jelly Team and our Loads of Love Project prepare and provide sandwiches for urgently hungry individuals and gift laundry money and warm conversation to neighbors throughout our community.
Every summer, we host Give & Serve Weekend, a large community-based outreach event where our Cornerstone Family comes together to give, serve, and love the City of Akron through various projects, from cleaning neighborhoods to providing care packages.
These partnerships and outreach efforts are all part of our mission to show help people find the Father, a family, and a fulfilling future.
Our Local Partners
-
To lead a collaborative network that empowers people to experience healthy and hunger-free lives. We distribute food to feed people, and we advocate, engage and convene our community in the fight to end hunger.
-
Eagle Ministry Chapel is committed to sharing the kindness and generosity of the Lord by ensuring no one in our community goes without. Inspired by John 6:35, we seek to meet both physical and spiritual hunger—offering food, hope, and the love of Christ to those in need.
-
Our Loads of Love team hits up local laundromats, covering the cost of a load and sticking around to chat, pray, and share the love of Jesus—because grace is free, and today, so is your laundry. Led by a team of big-hearted volunteers, this is an easy, meaningful way to serve and connect at Cornerstone. We go wherever there’s a need, because everyone deserves a fresh start.
-
Rooted in Christ’s love, the Kenmore Free Store exists to provide clothing and household essentials—completely free—to those in need. More than a store, we are a community where generosity, dignity, and compassion come together to serve our neighbors, reflecting God’s provision for all.
-
We recognize the worth and dignity of the houseless population. We help reaffirm the worth and dignity of houseless people through work and community. We then help the non-houseless people realize the worth and dignity of houseless people by bringing all of us together through work and community.
Ultimately, we look to break down all barriers that separate the houseless and the non-houseless. We are all just people.
