FAQs

What’s the timetable?

We are working with contractors right now to put together a timetable for the planning, construction, and opening of the new facility. As soon as we have more information, we will share it with the church.

Are we going to start remodeling soon?

Our plan is to start as soon as possible! We are working with contractors to get the plans put together so we can begin working on the new facility.

How much will this project cost?

Final estimates are forthcoming, but we will not commit to anything that we can’t be financially responsible for as a church. We are working with consultants who are helping guide us through this process.

What will it look like?

We are working on the planning right now. Contractors and architects will be working on the design in tandem with church leadership.

What happens if we don't raise the whole amount?

This is a process that will take three years. At the end of the three years, we anticipate having the entire building paid off. If at that time it would not be paid off in its entirety, we would simply continue to pay on our building until it’s completely paid off.

Are we getting a loan?

Our main goal right now is to raise as much money as we can from within our church body. If we need to get a loan later in the process, we will discuss what that looks like at that time.

What's wrong with the current facility?

The current facility is far too small to meet our needs as a church, presently or in the future. Our old facility on Killian Road was just over 20,000 sq. ft., while our current facility is right at 8000 sq. ft. To do ministry in the way we’ve been accustomed to and are called to, we will need significantly more room than the current facility has to offer.

I know of/have contacts with contractors/tradesmen/companies. Would you like me to connect with them for this project?

We are working with architects and contractors from outside our church. We are trusting their experience and expertise to put together the best team possible to renovate and build our new facility.

Will our new facility be opening during the week?

Our plan is to have the new building be used as much as possible. And yes, that includes having activities all throughout the week. We envision our new facility being used for all kinds of church and community-related needs.

WILL WE be DOING BREAD GIVEAWAYS AND OTHER OUTREACH SERVICES AGAIN?

We will absolutely continue ministering to our church and our community. We don’t know exactly what those services will look like in detail, but you can count on Cornerstone continuing to be active in the Akron area.

Will we still host weddings?

Yes. Our facility will still be available for wedding rentals.

Are we going to still have funerals?

Yes. Our facility will still be available for funerals.

Will we have a "Fellowship Hall," and can it be rented out? (Or any other specified rooms/spaces.)

We are working with contractors and church leadership regarding what types of rooms and spaces we will have in the church building.
